"we are not bringing a lot of food that needs cooling."

I'm just thinking about umm, rib-eye steaks and lamb loin chops and duck breast and err stuff.. I may have said in a PM, I turn very bloody when camping these days! Great hunks of bloody and burned meat on bbq... yummy! TSO may need to avert his eyes if we drag back a load of dead animal carcasses from the local farm shop ;-)

Our freezer at home is titchy witchy, and unfortunately half of it's just been filled up with a bloody great whole frozen trout... (thinks: 'hmm maybe I should bring that to bbq') but I have managed to pack in a few bottles of water, which will help to keep contents of cool bag cool.

In my day we used to camp while carrying tent and everything else too on our backs. Not done much of that since I've been an asthmatic fatso though! I don't have a van and can't see us going that route, but hope to get one of those nice spacious Bell Tents used by the Scouts by next Summer. Uber heavy & bulky to pack because they're canvas, but they're great things to camp in (apart from all the tragic trendy middle-class 'glamping' poo going on at the mo') 'cos they're cool when it's hot, warm when it's cold, have loadsa space inside and you can stand up. You can even put a wee wood burner inside depending on how adventurous you are..
