Thread Name: Lyr Req/Add: Frisco Dan (Jones/Van Alstyne, 1912)
Subject: Lyr Add: FRISCO DAN (Jones/Van Alstyne)
From the sheet music, viewable at the University of South Carolina web site:

FRISCO DAN
"Sonnet by Earle C. Jones. Aria by Egbert Van Alstyne."
New York: Jerome H. Remick & Co., 1912.

VERSE 1. Little "Frisco Dan" was a sailor man,
Sailing on the good ship "Mary Ann,"
And the little whales, in the piping gales,
Would wink at Dan and wag their little tails.
Out in Frisco, pretty Lulu Brown
Hugged her Dan and wore a worried frown.
He said, "Lou, I'm sailing out of town.
I'm off to Honolulu, Lou.

CHORUS 1: "I'm off to Honolulu on a sailing ship,
Off to Honolulu on a whaling trip.
If you'll be true, my Lulu, to your "Frisco Dan,"
Then I'll be true to Lulu any time I can."
As he sailed away, he was heard to say:
"Oh, I'll be true to Lulu any time I can."

VERSE 2. Down in Bongo Bay where the good ship lay,
Danny met a Hula maid one day,
And at night they rode where the moonlight glowed.
Her name was like the Lackawanna Road.
"Lackawanna," said the sailor man,
"Our girls wear fine dresses if they can.
You look sweeter in a coat of tan,
My little Lackawanna, dear.

CHORUS 2: "My little Lackawanna, when your Dan is gone,
Little Lackawanna, put a hammock on.
If you'll be true, my honey, on the Isle of Bong,
Then I'll be true, my honey, till we reach Hong Kong."
Then he sailed along, and he sang this song:
"I'm true to Lackawanna till we reach Hong Kong."

VERSE 3. In the town of Chow, on the old Yen How,
Danny met a gal named "Hip-Sing-Yow,"
So he put his trunk on her Chinee junk,
And told this Chink a lot of Yankee bunk.
"Hip-Sing-Yow, dear," Danny said in glee,
"You have made an awful hit with me.
On Broadway, you'd be in Operee."
And then the yellow maiden said:

CHORUS 3: "You're off to Californy full of okum smoke,
Off to Californy with a jokum joke.
You got a gal in Frisco while you flirty flirt.
No checkee, get no washee for your extra shirt."
Said the little "Chink," as she wank a wink:
"No checkee get no washee for your extra shirt."

VERSE 4. Back to Frisco Bay, Danny sailed one day,
Happy as a Blue Bird all the way,
For he knew Lou Brown back in Frisco Town,
Would wait until the Sun was going down.
"Frisco Lou," said Danny with a grin,
"I've stayed true in ev'ry town I've been."
"Hush," said Lou. "My hubby may come in."
And then our sailor boy replied:

CHORUS 4: "I'm off to old Seattle, on a Pullman train,
Off to old Seattle, where the girls are plain.
You never loved your honey and I sigh alas!
I've got another Baby up in Chinnook Pass."
Then he bowed his head, and he sweetly said:
"I've got another Baby up in Chinnook Pass."
