Refer to the other "Shillelagh" thread. It was Dennis Day singing on the Jack Benny radio show who popularized it. [Along with "McNamara's Band" and, later I think, "Clancy Lowered the Boom".] It's very probable that Bing Crosby also recorded it, but I've never been a Crosby fan, so I'm not positive about that.
