Real doughnuts are made from bread dough. Hence the word dough. They are subspherical with no hole, hence the element nut. They have jam in the middle and sugar in the outside. Unless they are Geo. Ort's Dunstable doughnuts, which are smaller and sold in bakers' dozens.

I think it is not wise to throw around the word real when discussing food with well accepted variants.
