Where is Shula these days, anyway?1. The Steeleye Span version was called "When I Was On Horseback." I assume it is an Irish version because it mentions Cork City, but I never did figure out the significance of the soldier being killed on the 14th of May.
2. Another version is from woman's point of view, and is called The Unfortunate Lass. There are versions of this from eastern Canada.
3. It would be an interesting, if somewhat depressing CD, to collect different variants of this song.
