Sonnet 11/12/00                        DXIII

The moon casts shadows, both from trees and from
My fears, illuminated by this light.
A silver glow: It cannot help but come
From muse, my verse's source. My dreams take flight,
To think of her. Yet, can this light reveal
More than desire? Can it of future show?
I seek her words to find meaning, to seal
My hopes to fate: I would her secrets know,
To find reason I care. I have not felt
So filled with words: I know she is the cause,
But what source is her power, that I melt
Before her light? The unknown gives me pause.
I reach for heart's desire: But will I find
All of my dreams exist just in my mind?
