A festival weekend offers various forms of entertainment and this is just a three hour session for those who like to play folk music (as we do) but also other types of music. What debate is required for that. At Whitby a number of Folk Musicians formed a Rock and Roll band. It was packed out with crowds outside listening to the music and people inside dancing to it. It was a fantastic success and great fun. It was full of folk singers and performers. It was not considered a threat to the folk World, but a fun evenings entertainment.Peta Web and the Titanic Syncopators with Tony Engle Saxophone (great X concertina player and part of Webbs Wonders)has been playing the Folk Clubs performing 20s to 50s numbers. No one has pointed out that shock horror she is not singing Folk Music.
I agree Leadfingers that once again a few people on this site love to stir things up behind a mask of secrecy.
