is La Jolla (La Hoya) near San Diego?
I recall many years ago seeing people
hang gliding off of a tall cliff there
and sailing out over the ocean. i think
they landed back on land...looked like

La Jolla is part of the San Diego area. I live right on the edge of La Jolla, just east of it. The glider port is just north in the section called Torrey Pines because of the State Park by that name where the rare Torrey Pines grow.
