I also grew up in Saginaw MI.and remember the rhyme..... but not as a jumprope rhyme.... we would say.... I'm going downtown to fetch a wife and won't be back till broad day light, but I'll beat you black and I'll beat you blue if you don't take care of my darling sister Sue! and then someone would be Sue and some kids had to protect her while others tried to take her away..... as I remember it!
