Shirley Sherrod's father was killed in 1965 in a dispute over three cows.

Her father, named Hosie Miller, went to his neighbor and demanded he be given three cows which Miller claimed had wandered into the neighbor's field.

The neighbor refused and said the cows were his and always had been.

Miller may have had a gun, maybe not, but the angry confrontation resulted in Miller being shot and killed.

Claims that race was the motivation or that the KKK was involved is inflamatory.

Many neighbors learn to dislike each other and sometimes stupid things like this happen.
