Thread Name: Obit: Katie Lee, "Ten Thousand Goddam Cattle"
Subject: RE: Where is Katie Lee (10,000 GD Cattle)
This past weekend during a contra dance camp we had a 30-minute concert from Katie Lee in Jerome, Arizona, where she is now resident. She is 90 years old and frustrated by her guitar playing, but sounded and looked great to me. Feisty as she must ever have been.

Apropos of a Burl Ives thread that was just revived, in answer to the question, "Who was your favorite performer that you ever worked with?", she replied that she always performed solo, but Burl Ives was the one who really helped her in with advice on starting her career in singing. She said that his most important piece of advice was to always say/send a thank you to anyone who wrote anything about you, to thank the event organizers, and to thank the sound technician.

She also mentioned that she was the first performer at Chicago's "Gate of Horn".

She's got her own web site now: www.katydoodit.com, where you can read all about her, as well as purchase cds, books, and dvds.
