I actually had a pair of Navajo moccasins. In the woods if one wants to disappear there is nothing that leaves a smaller trail then moccasins. Some of the scout snipers actually bring them along. Pretty dang comfy on the feet also. Not great protection against sharp objects but amazing.

The native American would avoid capture .. the best scouts of the Calvary could not find them ... their trail was so well covered. Mainly because of their skill and their tracks were non existent because of them.
