i'm so happy having found this thread and reading through everyones comments. my grandmother would often sing songs to me as a child and one of my fondest memories of her is her singing me to sleep with this lullaby and i could never remember the complete lyrics, she was from yorkshire and passed away several years ago and i've never known the origin or heard the song since but having browsed for a little while i have just purchased the sweetest version of it sung by the beverley sisters on amazon.........for my lovely nana mary.. this ones for you xxxx
