Subject: RE: Tune Req: Separation Blues (Patrick Sky)
In regards to all the inquiries about Pat Sky: I saw him several times in the 1960s in Baltimore at a small folk music club called The Foghorn and even got to speak to him about how he gets that twangy sound. He showed me his fingernails and said that's what he picks with. Of course, that vintage blonde J-200 helped a bit too, as it had an amazing tone! I have no tabs for Separation Blues but I saw him do it may times and he did it in C. Did anyone else see him in the 60s? He used to do many funny songs that were never on any albums, like one that he said was in a W.C. Fields movie, and it was about some girl that lost her tambourine. The song is in the movie That Fatal Glass of Beer. He also did some really funny song about getting drunk, and it had this incredible little guitar lick in between each verse, but I can't remember much more about it. Check out his incredible guitar break in Dylan's Don't Think Twice on the Through a Window album and Candy Man on the Two Steps Forward One Step Back album. Pat Sky is an incredible guitarist!!! If anyone wants to talk Pat Sky to me just email at jberle@mtamaryland.com and I would love to write more.
