"Shady Grove," according to my notes, was the youngest member of the extended Grove family. There were in fact many other branches including the oak, the ash and the bonny birchum tree. But she soon proved a wild and willful young woman and was asked to leave. She was last seen in her bark, sailing toward Greater Britain in the early years of the Folk Song Revival.
