Thread Name: BS: The Mudcat 10 commandments
Subject: RE: BS: The Mudcat 10 commandments
Naturally, my commandments only concern music threads.

1. Thou shalt not misspell a musician's name (if there is any way to look it up).

2. Thou shalt not post lyrics without saying where thou got them.

3. Thou shalt not post lyrics if the exact same lyrics have already been posted.

4. Thou shalt not say that a certain song is "by" a certain musician without specifying "written by" or "performed by." Likewise, if thou readest at another web site that that a certain song is "by" a certain musician, thou shalt not assume that "by" means "written by."

5. Thou shalt make a reasonable attempt to put line breaks in lyrics where they belong.

6. If thou hast attempted to use HTML, thou shalt preview thy message before posting it.

7. Thou shalt not post a link without saying where the link goeth, for all links die, but Mudcat music threads live forever.

8. Thou shalt not start a music thread without first making a reasonable attempt to find an existing thread on that topic.

9. Thou shalt not start a music thread without giving it a meaningful and specific title.

10. Thou shalt not assume or imply that thy favorite version of any traditional song or tune is the only authentic, true, original, or correct version.
