Hi everyone, just wanted to say I was pleased to find this forum. The song John Hardy has always been a favourite of mine since I heard a version of it by George Thorogood, and I'd always wondered if there was some truth in the song. I've since heard many different versions and now I know of a few more thanks to your forum. As an amateur musician I've written a few songs myself, some of them to do with real events that have happened to me or folk I know. What I'm getting at is that songs change over time, my own included and become embelished to a certain extent. But from your site I'm glad to have found that John hardy was a real person.
