"concerts are what folk festivals are all about"

A very good point. Some festivals have more small venue events but Shrewsbury is very clear about what it is and what it does and I think it is probably the best of its kind - loads and loads of top quality 'folk roots and acoustic music' as somebody often says.

I have been in small pub rooms at Whitby with Harry Boardman, Mike Harding, Dave Burland and most of the Highlevel Ranters and it was - surprise, surprise - a bit special.

But so were almost all the big and not so big concerts at Shrewsbury
