Subject: RE: BS: Declutter & Accountability Sept 2010
I've hit a setback with the shipping today. I did so much research about the knife, and I looked at the types of auctions out there (individuals as well as dealers and shipping overseas) that I didn't put two and two together and realize that as an individual I couldn't ship this via USPS. The only way knives can go is through the postal mail is via a dealer who has some kind of permit. The next option is UPS or FedEx, and instead of $13, they cost $113. So I've offered the buyer the choice of paying the difference in the shipping or I will refund his purchase price. The next highest bidder is in the U.S. and I can send it as a domestic package UPS and not have a problem. Darn.

I'm waiting to hear back. I'm sure Sr. Alexandre will be an unhappy camper either way.

On a more interesting note, I spoke with Moonglow about the play she is costuming this semester. She needs costumes that look like 1906 Connecticut. A couple of characters attend Yale. My father's family was from Ansonia, the next town over from New Haven and many of them attended Yale. I have photos of my grandfather in a group of other students at that time, and clothes and such. I sent her photos of these (I could hear the interest perk up when she remembered that photo of some club on campus - "send it soon!") I have family photos of women back then also, so I need to see about clothes or photos. :)
