For those of us who don't own emergency generators, the worst part of an extended power outage is having to listen to other people's generators.

(Please note that I'm not commenting on generator ownership in general. If I lived far enough north that winter power outages meant the possibility of frozen pipes or frozen body parts, I'd own one. But I live in the southeast where generators are mainly used to keep air conditioners and televisions going in the wake if hurricanes. Come on, folks, can't ya live without the TV and A/C for a week?)
