I've been thinking about painting some of the cabinets in the house. They're all the same custom design, oak finish, but there is so much of it. A good paint job can make cabinets look very elegant. Another thing is to take the doors off, but right now I have enough stuff stashed in the cupboards that it wouldn't look like Martha's kitchen. It would look like crowded (though categorized and relatively organized) cupboards.

I have one cabinet over the dishwasher with all of our vitamins and medications and treatment stuff (cold remedies, sting, bite, itch remedies, etc.) and if there was another place nearby to put that, it would be nice to use this cupboard and the others on that side as open shelves with all of the plates and cups and such. I'm not using the top two pantry cupboards very well (the bottom two shelves behind the lowest door have all of my old paint). I could think about that usage and maybe make some changes.
