The speech of educated people can be ugly too. Examples that get on my nerves:

picking his brains (what an ugly image)
diddley or diddley squat (Just act yourself what it really means.)
verbal diarrhea (I'm eating!)
anal, or anal retentive (meaning merely "More particular than I")

Some people think in pictures more than other people. I do often think in pictures, and these ugly cliches do nothing to help 'the feast of reason and flow of soul.'
