....for as long as there is love, there will be music.... There will be music...

This one was special, folks. Without our Dani it couldn't be perfect, but it was one of the best. One of the best reasons was the number of 18 to 30 year olds that were there and singing. What amazing talent we saw/heard in Dariel, Colin, Glyn, and of course our Elizabeth LaPrelle. And to look at the beauty and grace of Linnea Paton as she bravely sang a song which reminded her of her brother, was to know that the future of our beloved music is a bright one. These young folks didn't just timidly try to perform these songs, they interpreted them with understanding and savvy that comes from a caring place. Well done, young friends. I am very proud to be able to say I have met you and witnessed your singing.

It was a joy to see my fellow Beef Bro, Jed, and sing with him again. No one has paid more I dues than him. Folks, be sure to go to his website and purchase his music. Your return on investment will be great as he is one of the finest writers and singers out there.

I also led the labor songs workshop with Susan Storer Clark. What a delight this was. She is such a talent, and delivers this very important music with the passion that is critical to the message.

Ernie..... Having lunch after was WONDERFUL, and for a very important reason. When Caroline and Sandy and I met the first time, we discovered a mutual love of chicken fried steak. Thus began the tradition of going to Cracker Barrel after Getaway, enjoying a farewell meal together, sitting in the rockers outside and singing farewell songs, and then "the scattering". I am announcing now, for next year, that we will begin carrying this tradition on again in memory of our friend Sandy. To do so will honor the fellowship and friendship that we all learned from Grandpa Sandy. If you can build the time in, we would love your company.

Time for me to get back to my ramble ... More later.

All the best,

Mick
