Having lost people close to me from cancer, and being a cancer survivor myself, you have my thoughts and deepest sympathy. As SINSULL pointed out - every case is different. You might want to consider contacting the John Wayne Cancer Center, located in Southern California, in Orange County. They have some of the most knowledgeable experts and state of the art treatments available. The latest wave in cancer treatment is called Radio Frequency Ablasion. It has been found that cancer cells cannot survive under extreme heat or cold temperatures. Through injection of a needle, extreme temperatures are sent to the cancer cells, and they begin to "commit suicide." It is a very new treatment, and for some cancers, the success rate currently is at about 20%, which is not very high. I don't know if this treatment is available for lung cancer, because my sister found out about it when looking for alternative treatments for my father, who had pancreatic cancer.
