See, the problem is when you get to be Rapaire's age, you've discovered that ALL stories end in a damn cliche. You've learned why they are cliches. And the race has generated enough of them that they've just about all been invented, and making up new ones is just too much damn work. So you're left in the sorry state you see him in today, the inheritor of all the human race's unoriginal thoughts. And he had so much promise when he was a sprat. Jade is highly overrated.
