I had a huge TV crush on Simon McCorkindale. That's so sad he died so young. Odd, I did an intitial Google search on him and the results came back in French and Spanish.

He did a tolerable version of Heart of Darkness, as I recall, and he was in a wonderful little espionage movie of a WWI era Erskine Childers novel called Riddle of the Sands. And he wasn't bad in one of the Agatha Christie ensembles with Peter Ustinov years ago. Jaws, whatever number that was, probably brought him the largest U.S. audience. But once he hit the nighttime soaps (Falcon Crest) and that oddball Manimal, I stopped taking him as seriously as a talented actor.

I see that the last 10 years he has been active with a Brit drama called Casualty, and happily, I see he guested in one of my favorite mysteries, New Tricks this year. Who knows when we'll get to see this season over here in the U.S.; I think we've seen up to season three now.

He apparently died at age 58 of colon cancer, four years after diagnosis. Too bad all around.
