Thread Name: BS: Wayne Rooney on the way out (UK football)
Subject: RE: BS: Wayne Rooney on the way out
hi

The Rooney "saga" goes on and highlights an illness in Football. However surely the same kind of "sickness" occurs in other so-called arts. Actors, singers, ballet dancers , pop stars ( what-ever they are)...etc etc. They are driven by greed and power.

Lizzie - I don't find Rooney's off the field antics acceptable at all. But he is by no means alone in his infidelity. It is rife in today's society. It is not exclusive only to the rich and famous - we only hear about them.

And I believe that today that both sexes are equally guilty of the sort of behaviour that we all point accusing fingers at Rooney for.

I regularly watch Manchester United as did my father and grand-father before me !! I go to be entertained by good quality football - most of the time Man U do deliver on this score.

Players going off the rails is nothing new and I am sure that we can all recall several such players without any difficulty.

I am not saying it is right that off the field behaviour of current players behave as they do but mostly I am able to ignore these exploits as separate from the performance on the pitch.

As a person I do not rate Rooney and his like, very highly but as a footballer he has infinite skills that set him up as one of the best footballers in the World.

Surely it is the system that is to blame not Rooney ???

Cheers
