Rick can be quite entertaining when he's in the mood, like the night he did Bob Dylan cutups to get at Little Hawk. Usually he's in one mood or another.

When I met Rick Kane at the Mariposa Folk Festival, Rick had been enjoying the free beer for entertainers just before he ran into a distraught father who had lost his son in the crowd. Rick told the father that parenting was like deer hunting. If you stand in one spot they come back around. It worked. The father stayed in one spot and his son showed up. Rick told me later that there were differences between parenting and deer hunting. You weren't allowed to pull a bead with a rifle on a kid.
