Sonnet 04/01/01                        DXXII

I think of muse, and dream of her sweet smile,
But dreams are all I have: I have not seen
Into the depths of eyes, nor can I, while
She remains at this distance. Does she mean
To keep me here, or is it again Fate,
Now fighting my desires? This ebb and flow,
First finding muse, then causing me to wait,
Wears at my hopes: How might I future know
When present remains hidden? Shall I plead
Beyond my verse, to see her? Should I take
This silence to speak volumes, or not read
My fears to dreams, and not my heart awake?
A new year starts, and, with it, I must pray
That I might see smile and her eyes, someday.
