Sonnet 15/11/00                        CDLXXVIII

I have not looked into your eyes, nor seen
Your smile, yet I would call you friend, and care
About how you might feel. I do not mean
To push myself on you, but concern share.

I have not heard your voice, but seek to find
Your thoughts within the words you send. I read,
And try to see how you might be, in mind:
I wonder, that I see in you, my need.

Do I but see reflection, that I see
That which I wish to see? Are you a dream,
To match all my desires? Might you yet be
The muse I seek, and all that you now seem?

I do not know, yet know I must decide
If to see you, or from future hope hide.
