Why should one expect people who are phony online to be "real" (honest, earnest, etc.) in ftf meetings? The internet is not a different kind of human being. It is a communications tool, like the telephone system or the postal service. I fail to see 1. what's "fun" about being phony, and 2. what the big difference is between "online" and "real life."Then again I "met" my current wife through a BBS (anybody remember those?), which would have never been possible if either of us were putting on a phony persona. So my ideas about "online reality" and such may be a bit skewed.
