While messing up my previous post (blooming netbook) I was thinking that an early portrayal of a stereotypical female folkie can be found in Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis - Margaret, Jim's girfriend anyone? Wooden chunky beads and all. No "Celtic" earrings there though.
