Well, guys, today I feel as if a load has been lifted from my shoulders. I got a call from my Mom last night. She got the results of her tests back and she was downgraded from a Stage III to a Stage II. Her actual designation is T-II-O. The "O" means that her lymphatic system has not been compromised. She told me last night that the doctor had bet her his paycheck that it HAD been affected. It looks like they caught it early enough to have a fighting chance of keeping it from spreading. The only slightly bad news was that her lung function was not as good as they hoped. They were hoping that her clean lung had been doing the lion's share of the breathing, but it looks like she's getting about 50% of her total capacity from each lung. So if they took out the affected lung, her lung capacity would be significantly reduced. Since she is a dancer, she really doesn't want to go that route anyways.
So we still have an uphill battle ahead of us, but at least it's not Hamburger Hill. This mountain feels more surmountable than it did last Sunday.
Thank you guys!
