I can't believe there are only 4 weeks left in the semester. So much to finish before the break. Maybe if I set up a list on the fridge to cross off as I finish things I'll be a bit organized.

Just over a week to Thanksgiving, so I guess first on the list is getting a bird or planning a ham and making plans. Turkeys are so much work that maybe I'll do a ham for Thanksgiving and save the turkey for when both kids are here. We all love open face hot turkey sandwiches (we could skip the big carving of the bird at the table bit and go straight to the sandwiches with gravy!) so I'll save that work for the maximum family pleasure.

It was probably 10 years ago when they first tried one of those sandwiches - my homemade bread, moist slices of turkey, and homemade turkey gravy over the top. It was dinnertime when their dad brought them back from the weekend with him and they were "ewww-ing" and fussing at how awful this thing on my plate looked. I made each one take a taste and I swear they devoured the rest of my sandwich. As with BLTs, these sandwiches are a bit of a family ritual. You can keep your stuffing, we don't need a lot of the extra stuff. But this is sacrosanct, the sandwiches.
