Yesterday morning I lost my overhang!
Just after I got back from my visit to the docs/coffee shop/store there was a whooshing noise from the front of the house, and all of a sudden I was seeing through the whole of my bedroom window again! Luckily most of it dropped into next door's front pathway. I then cleared about a 3 feet width away from the back of the car so there's direct access from the road onto the footway.

I have located all my decorations, but I don't want to put them up yet...the village lights get switched on tomorrow night, and I have candle-arch lights in the window ready to go on then. I bet I put the tree up this weekend! I want to put all the boxes away somewhere.

The filled in chimney breast in the dining room is annoying me at the moment. It is very wide for the size of the room, and the ceilings are higher than in my last place, so it's quite a dominant feature. I have noticed undulations in the plasterwork which show where the old lintel was, and it's about 5 feet or so up. There was obviously a range in there, and to be honest, unless you opened it right up and made it an inglenook, anything less than another range would be dwarfed! (I am going to investigate restored ones at some point). I have an old oak framed (very heavy) 1930s mirror to go up, but that requires me to be able to get into the tool box in the shed and get the drill going. I foresee more digging!
