A range is exactly that - a stove used for cooking. They can vary as to how open the set up is. A lot of the later ones were inserted into the chimney breast and had a fire at one side with closed ovens and sometimes a water tank at the side with flaps that could direct the heat. Others were more like a fire-driven cooker, but I suspect that at some point it had the former, which may have been a replacement for an older type.

I braced myself and got the mirror hung on the breast. It does look better!

The freezer didn't come. They phoned to say that they weren't going to be able to make the delivery. so I have no idea when to expect it, and i have a dryer due on Tuesday... I got bored while waiting in for it, and put the new, slimline tree up. They are switching the village lights on at 4pm today, so my lights will go on after then.

I had water running down the inside of the back door from my decrepid lobby roof yesterdqay afternoon. I solved it by realising that the edge of the roof was a dam of ice, and taking a small ice pick and a hammer to it. Chips of ice down the neck is NOT funny! Today I may have a go at shifting some more snow from round the car.

Had a phone call from the lawyers who did the conveyancing - the registration of the title is complete and the deed have arrived. I now await them here. Apparently there is quite a pile - I can't wait! I will hopefully learn my house's proper history!
