Uwe, I'm sure that's a "bowling green" and "yoke", not joke. Unless this was written by the ancient and mysterious clan of Horse Jokers, who were known to tame wild horses by speaking softly to them and then hitting them with one liners until the mighty wil stalions rolled around laughing on the ground. Then they'd drop the bridle on them, and they'd laugh all the way to the barn....at least so I have been told.
