Thanks, SRS. You are right. There is a variety of baggage here. Rob is worth the effort but I do not have a huge support group here in Montreal. It does help to be able to express a little frustration to non-judgmental folks.

Our biggest load of baggage is the incredible stress in his life. My general response being a quiet reminder, "Anytime you want to, you can just walk away and go paddle your canoe." Not everyone can do that. He cannot yet see his way clear to it but maybe someday. "The years befront us are not as many as the years behind." "Let's just get that van and GO!"

But not too often and not when things are REALLY BAD as they are this week!

Today I did manage to phone a friend (one whom I have asked for advice for the last 42 years! And to whom I can safely dump my aggravation once in a while.) for advice on insuring the car - in addition to the provincial plan - and, henceforth, obtained such on line without any hassle - bought and paid. Mental health insurance! A BIG THING.

And Rob just phoned to tell me where he is and "I didn't crash your car." Tomorrow we agreed to go get the tires changed first thing. Life progresses in very small increments. I washed the sheets and remade the bed and cooked a good meal. Some days only very small things get accomplished.
