there might be some songs that mention the Kanaka connection.
the kanaka people are hawaiians -- many of them worked in the
same mines and mills as the chinese workers. there are several
place names and geograhical areas with hawaiina names..aloha,
kanaka, etc.

speaking of which -- many of the western r.r. workers
were chinese...and we have many rock walls here in northern
callif. that were built by them...these walls have stood
the test of time...

don't forget woody guthrie roll on columbia roll on....

Fred Small has a song called Heart ofthe Appaloosa
which is about Nez Perce....

and although Montana might be a stretch...there is
a song about Mann Gulch firefighters who died....it
is called cold Missouri Waters....by James Keelaghan
