OK - a few visual hints may help.

The first 2 looked like the names.

Number 3 had 2 fingers poked out like the little 'walking man' game...

The others were never shown, just mentioned, and the last of course was part of the joke of the student wanting to read 'real music books' and break away from the radical (based on ignorant self discovery!) teaching method...
