I have eaten at least twenty kinds of bannock made by the Cree, Slavee, Dodrib, Gwitchen and my sister (miss you, Nancy) who I think learned how to from either the Ojibwa or Mohawk. Hers was the best. She said the `secret` was to use the cheapest lard ya could find. Dang, she made whitefish one evening--it`s a great fish to eat--and I pigged out big time on the bannock. I think of it as one of the three or four best meals I ever ate.
