Jealousy, night and day you torture me
I sometimes wonder, if this spell that I'm under
Can only be a melody, for I know no one but me
Has won your heart, but when the music starts

My peace departs from the moment
they play that lovely strain
And we surrender to all its charm again
This jealousy that tortures me, is ecstasy, mystery, pain

We dance to a tango of love
Your heart beats with mine as we sway
You eyes give the answer I'm dreaming of
That soft word your cruel lips will never say

I fear that the music will end
And shatter the spell it may lend
To make me believe, when your eyes just deceive
But it's only the tango you love.

I fear that the music will end
And shatter the spell it may lend
To make me believe, when your eyes just deceive
And it's only the tango you love.

It's only the tango that you love.

JEALOUSY
(Jacob Gade / Winifred May)
recorded by Geraldo & His Orchestra

VERSE
Jealousy!
'Twas only through Jealousy!
Our hearts were broken, and angry words were spoken,
Now all I have is memory, to cherish so tenderly,
With ev'ry token, you have given to me.
I love too well, for I doubted you in my heart,
My life was hell, ev'ry moment we were apart.
Why did I make, that big mistake?
I wrong'd you, right from the start.

REFRAIN
'Twas all over my jealousy
My crime was my blind jealousy
My heart was afire with desire for you
But I never thought that your love was true
You gave all your kisses to me
But now all too late I can see
The heartaches I cost you
No wonder I lost you
'Twas all over my jealousy

VERSE
Happiness, I've squandered my happiness,
For all my gladness, has ended in a sadness,
I've only got myself to blame, I know I deserve the shame,
Love was a madness, from the moment you came.
Your magic kiss was intoxicating like wine,
Drunk with such bliss, was I wrong in calling you mine?
Though you were true, I doubted you,
Forgive me sweetheart for this.
(To Refrain)

JEALOUSY
(Jacob Gade / Simon May)
recorded by Vera Lynn

Also recorded by:
Billy Fury; Leslie Hutchinson; Richard Tauber.

Jealousy, 'twas only through jealousy
Our hearts were broken, and angry words were spoken,
Now all I have is memory to cherish so tenderly
With every token you have given to me

I loved too well for I doubted you in my heart
My life was hell every moment we were apart
Why did I make that big mistake
I wronged you right from the start

'Twas all over my jealousy
My crime was my blind jealousy
My heart was on fire with desire for you
But I never thought that our love was true

You gave all your kisses to me
But now, all too late, I can see
The heartaches I cost you, no wonder I lost you
`Twas all over my jealousy.

I got the lyrics from International Lyrics Playground and then I corrected the lyrics by listening to the Frankie Laine and Billy Fury recordings.

Frankie Laine uses more-or-less the same tune as the Billy Fury recording, but has quite different lyrics. Who Wrote That Song? (Jacobs & Jacobs) says the song was published in 1938 and originally introduced in Denmark. I'm guessing that the Billy Fury and Frankie Laine recordings are different translations of the same Danish song. I found the song in a number of different languages, including a Spanish version recorded by Connie Francis.
