I have two christmas cacti and one of them put on a few buds but nothing actually opened. I asked a co-worker, whose cacti usually bloom beautifully, and she said she figured out that when they start to send out those buds, give them a lot more water. So when the kitchen cactus started putting out buds last week, I started giving it more water.

I'm afraid a christmas cactus blooming in February may mean we have six months more of winter. . .

I called the new company, the order did go through. Their application process fizzled but saved my info. All things being equal, these folks are only .01 cent cheaper than the power rate I could negotiate with my current company, negligible as far as my bill is concerned. I'm switching because the new company has a clearer bill with a graph of what you spent in the 12 previous months. Obviously they won't have the other company's info to do that right away, but over a year, and if their prices stay competitive, this might be the company I'll keep longer.

The Stupor Bowl is going to be here in a couple of weeks, so everything we're doing at work seems to be referenced around that--they'll be making use of our parking on campus for some of the staging during the day. My ex works in downtown Fort Worth and is trying to figure a strategy to get to work without mortgaging his house to pay for the parking. (He insists he doesn't want to ride the bus, but that sounds like a fine idea to me!) I have to be in town several times next week, one of those times puts me near ground zero, where they're closing streets and setting up pavilions and such. I've put a call in to my hairdresser to ask if there is a preferred route to reach her. Private helicopter, perhaps. :-/
