Grew up in Philly in the forties and early fifties. "Stranded in the Jungle" was considered novelty, as well as certain Bo Diddley ("Bo Meets the Monster") and Screamin' Jay Hawkins tunes. Lots of novelty tunes about cars that I can't remember, like (I think) the Coasters "No Money Down"--"I want two-dollar deductible, TV and a phone, so I can talk to my baby when I'm cruisin' all alone" (paraphrase)
