I've lived in places that are as cold as this, but there is usually a lot of cold weather so it isn't so remarkable. The fact that I took the dogs for a walk two nights ago in a fleece jacket and ballcap makes these days down around 11o tough to adjust to. Fingers crossed that pipes don't freeze - having a boxy shaped house helps, I think. I have the cupboard doors under the two outermost sinks propped open to keep the air circulating.

I'm going to sleep in the front room tonight, where the smaller furnace keeps it nice and warm, and let the rest of the house stay cooler. The front room has the shortest outside wall and the rest is protected by interior walls. My bedroom, on the other hand, has mostly exterior walls. I'll leave on enough heat so the pipes don't freeze, but the two-ton heater that keeps the sunroom, office, and kitchen warm also overlaps into the front room. The three-ton heater gets the living room and bedrooms, rooms that people are rarely in. I suppose I should move into the office/bedroom and use a lot less heating and cooling, but I'd miss the master bath. :)

Work is cancelled for the third day in a row tomorrow, but it's so damned cold that the days off aren't a treat. There's no day of playing in snow with the kids.

Taxes moved a bit further today, but they're not finished. On the other hand, the dishes are out of the way and a load of laundry is in now, before the rolling blackouts start (probably around 5 or 6am).
