Subject: Obit: Martin of the Barking Spider, Cleveland
Emails streamed in today from all around town to say that Martin Juredine, much adored owner of the Barking Spider Tavern passed away February 1, after a long illness.

This man has been the cornerstone of folk and acoustic music in Cleveland, Ohio for the last quarter of a decade. My memories aren't a patch on the influence he had in encouraging performers through that period. His down to the ground laid-back goodness was legendary. In a tiny, homey carriage house he presented live music every day of the year - sometimes more than one show - day and night. For years. National performers debuted there, local performers honed their skills, the budding open mic movement came to life there.
