Much of the crankiness and bad attitude that comes out on threads like this is the result of a very long-standing belief by some on this site that music classified as Rock, and musicians that played same, have no business being talked about on a "folkie" forum. The fact that Thin Lizzy's Whiskey in the Jar stays closer to the spirit of the song than anything the Kingston Trio ever did escapes them. Most good rock music is an offshoot of blues, folk, and country music, three classifications that don't incur the same degree of invective that rock musicians garner on this site.

Anyway, I enjoyed Gary's playing on The Black Rose, and am very sorry to hear of his passing.
