This song was in fact release by "Cookie", the cowriter of the song, in 1959. I am from Louisiana and listened to Swamp Pop and Cajun Music all my life. In 1975, Donny King, who was my uncle, re-recorded and re-released it. Others have done the same afterwards.

Cookie's version went #47 on billboard POP charts and my uncle's went #20 on Billboard Country Charts. "Donny", his stage name, died in 1980 of cancer. Six months after my Paw Paw died. "Donny" played for Micky Gilley in his house band and then would drive to go see my Paw Paw when he was dying.
