Wrote, let rest, proofed, then sent a letter to my city council asking that they deal with a case of a homeowner encroaching on one of our city parks. I spelled out the issues, addressed the possible remedies, and spoke to a couple of council people and park people to try to avoid the nose-out-of-joint problems. They know what I did and I paid them the courtesy of letting them know. The level of activity on boards here is shockingly low, and I know I'm going to shake things up. I figure since I am not raising teenagers now, I can get back to some of my community work. People already know me from my work with planning and zoning when a new development was proposed. It took two of them going away (I was one to give them a big push) before a third finally decided to toe the line and do what the village wanted.

I finished several promotional things for work, and an preparing to close down shop and take the girls for a walk. Three days in a row - this is so nice after the horrid weather for the first half of the month. I need the exercise.

I am going to be busy here this spring, since I launched what will, to some, feel like an assault upon their way of life here in the village. I need to be extra careful to keep my own nose clean. People will be just waiting to pounce if I let a blade of grass grow too tall. I think it's time to finish landscaping the lump of dirt in my front yard. I'll make sure the grass doesn't creep into the street, growing as tendrils or as lawn clippings escaping the mower. Either one of those can get a warning or a ticket. And I'd better go down and get the dog licenses.
