I think Maximon in Guatemala fits this description. You will occasionally see his shrines, and the offerings people have made to him of his favorite items - liquor and cigarettes. I was told that he's the one to ask if you want power, revenge, luck in gambling, etc. But he will always exact a price - you won't know what it is until you have to pay.
